Testimonials

As a lifelong resident of Livingston, Montana I have had the privilege to call the fabled Henry’s Fork, Madison, and the Holy Trinity of Montana spring creeks Nelson’s, Armstrong’s, and Depuy’s my home waters. So, why would I become a member of Spring Valley Anglers when I have such incredible water out my back door? The advantage that Spring Valley Anglers Rod and Gun Club offers me over my home waters is fewer people, bigger fish, and a longer fishing season. The opportunity to catch the biggest fish of my life and the fact that SVA is my one stop shop for all of my fly fishing and hunting desires makes my decision to be a lifelong member an easy one. The fishing on SVA’s private waters is truly as good if not better than the good old days 30 plus years ago here in Montana.

Spring Valley Anglers is one of the best kept secrets and one of the best values in a sport that is becoming ever more popular and expensive. I was fortunate enough to be a guide for a few seasons in Colorado and have had the opportunity to fish the Rocky Mountains for over 16 years. I can honestly say that I have never encountered the quality of fish, water, or people that I have as a member of Spring Valley Anglers. For me the thing that stands out most about this club is that the water you have access to as a member allows you to ‘fish nervous’. What this means is that the fish of a lifetime lurks in every seam, riffle, run and pool that you have access to as a member. Therefore, you have a legitimate chance of hooking up with a monster each time out. These are some of the healthiest, most athletic fish I have ever encountered and they readily challenge your abilities as a fly fisherman. It is increasingly difficult to find water that is worth fishing and S.V.A. has an abundance of it, without the crowds.

As Fly Fishers, our thoughts are filled with images of casting our line in a beautiful setting for trophy sized trout far removed from the maddening crowds and chaos of our everyday lives. At Spring Valley Anglers, those thoughts become reality with my every visit to their beautiful waters. I do see other people occasionally when on their waters, but because of the way they schedule each beat, I know I can find a great honey hole and fish in solitude. I am also assured that because these are free flowing waters, I will be able to fish when I want and do not have to concern myself with today’s “generation schedule” as is the case when fishing on most tailwaters. And finally, I must say a little about the fish….the real reason we are there. Having fished many of the blue ribbon waters of the West, I rank Spring Valley Anglers waters right there with some of the greats. These fish are wild, mean, and large. A skilled angler can catch numbers, will catch size, and all anglers will be challenged by these seemingly smart, wily and very beautiful creatures.

The owners of Spring Valley Anglers respect the resource, are very conservation minded, and are good stewards of the land. Joining their group has provided me a lifetime of lasting memories in a relatively short time. I would highly recommend it to anyone who understands the true meaning of “you get what you pay for”.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to fish in many places around the world over the last several years. The kind of experiences that we all dream of. Nowadays, I tend to compare my trips with my fishing at Spring Valley Anglers Rod and Gun Club. I have been a member of SVA for three years and it has always been a good experience. However with the new Beats and the stream improvements Adam, Bubba and Tim made this past year, it is now an outstanding experience. I recently took my grandson night fishing (3am to 8am) on the Norfork River in Arkansas. We had a great night catching 40 to 50 fish. Afterwards he commented that the fish we caught were not near as nice as the ones he caught in March at SVA. I have always enjoyed sight-fishing spring creeks. Last March, my grandson and I crawled on our hands and knees across a gravel bar at Beat 2 to fish for four trout we had spotted, each over 20 inches. Over the next 30 minutes he hooked and landed two of these fish, sitting on the seat of his pants. It is hard on waders but it was a great fishing experience. SVA has not replaced my traveling but it has certainly supplemented my fishing days. I can now get an additional 20 fishing days per year because of the close proximity to my home in Tulsa.
